'97 528 needs type II maintenance - can I do it?

I am tired of paying dealer prices. Though I am not a mechanic, is any of
the Type II (120k miles) inspection out of my reach or should I just pay for
prevention?

Go to a good BMW mach that knows what a Type II Inspection is (also inthe
manual) and do it. Should be hundreds lower than the dealer. Make sure all
the parts that should be replaced,ie belts, plugs, fluids get replaced. Ask
the local BMW club members for some help. Hell for that matter jointhe BMW
club and you'd be suprised the information you can find.
